Think back to why you became a primary care doctor, what you thought the profession and the life would be like after the oppressive cost, hard work, and massive stresses of medical school. Remember what you hoped for? Or even what you expected?
If you’re like most doctors, the differences between that expectation and the way you practice medicine and live your life today are huge. You probably spend a lot less time caring for patients, and a lot more time pushing paper than you ever imagined. You’re likely frustrated by the endless string of forms, regulations, and mandates making it harder to get paid for the work you care so much about, and finding it harder yourself to maintain the lifestyle you aspired to back then… whether it was a long time ago, or just a few years.
This blog is about the gap between those things in primary medicine today, and the corresponding crisis in the availability of primary care that’s resulted from them. It’s about new ideas, tools, and approaches that are helping doctors deliver better care and live better lives, and the doctors who are taking advantage of them to do exactly that.
I’m Steven Ferguson, Patient Management Officer for Hello Health. Maybe you know our company and our platform. We provide practice management, EHR technology and services for primary care physicians to practice better, take care of patients better and increase their revenues, and we’re making real headway with physicians and patients alike.
We’ve talked to hundreds of medical professionals since we started Hello Health, and there’s a common thread - they love what they do, but feel their value and their role in transforming care has been sidelined by policies and technologies that don’t put them in the driver’s seat. It’s left them on what so many have called the ever-accelerating hamster wheel of practice.
We like to think Hello Health has the right model and ideas to change all that. You can find out more about Hello Health platform, but this blog is about more than that. My goal for Practice Made Perfect will be to provide information and insights you can use to “take your practice back,” to push it closer to the practice you hoped for whenever it was you set out on your adventure. Along the way I hope to get to know you, and for you to get to know me and what we’re about.
And will that make your practice “perfect?” My guess is probably not. But maybe we can get a little closer to that idea together.
So welcome. Please subscribe if you’re interested in hearing more, and I look forward to taking this journey together.
