Primary Care Doctor 2.0: A New Look at a Long-Standing Profession

Posted by Patrick Stevenson on Tue, May 21, 2013 @ 09:21 AM

The world of the primary care doctor has been rapidly changing and will continue to do so over
the coming years. Insurance concerns, higher patient expectations about care, an expansion in services provided and a decline in reimbursements are all prompting the need for primary care physicians to find new ways to stay successful and grow their practices as a result. Being a primary care doctor is not easy and I applaud those who follow their calling in the face of these and other health care challenges.

Taking the Pulse…of Primary Care Physicians

Posted by Stephen Armstrong on Mon, Jul 23, 2012 @ 10:34 AM

At Hello Health, we have both a unique opportunity and a distinct privilege to be able to sit down with primary care physicians across the country and talk about what keeps them up at night, how they perceive electronic medical records, what their goals are for their practice, their patients and much more.  Typically, we meet over dinner and have a discussion over the Hello Health EMR-based business model. Yes, we are selling, but foremost we are listening. We have to. We want to. It is only by understanding the pressures facing today’s primary care physician that we can provide meaningful solutions above and beyond meaningful use (download Hello Health's free Guide to Understanding Meaningful Use). And above and beyond the traditional EMR paradigm.

So what are primary care physicians saying? What can we learn from weekly opportunities to connect with family practitioners, internists, integrative medicine practitioners and pediatricians? The following data reflects over 80 responses we have received recently to two questions in our survey.

Posted by Steven Ferguson on Wed, Jul 18, 2012 @ 11:57 AM

A recently released Accenture report focused on the interest of Americans in accessing health information online, including online consults. 82% want access to personal medical information online, 72% want to manage appointments online and 76% want to communicate with their doctors online. No surprises there, as noted by an editor at Fierce Healthcare who also remarked on the fact that 85% “still want” face-to-face time with their doctor.

Unpaid time is unfair to doctors

Posted by Steven Ferguson on Thu, Jul 12, 2012 @ 09:22 AM

I have a young son who asked me the other day why Nat, our CEO, paid me for my work. This caught me by surprise and I asked what had prompted the question. He told me that he understood why construction workers got paid for building roads, why firefighters got paid for putting out fires and why NHL hockey players got paid for scoring goals (something I struggle to understand sometimes myself).

outpatient [ˈoutˌpā sh ənt]

Labels can be very useful. They make our lives simpler, help us to compartmentalize, categorize, and make quick decisions. They can bring structure to our view of our world.
